Planning trip to Dix from Rt 73 6 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 10
Was planning to go solo, but after reading BarkEaters report, thought I might see if anyone else would be interested in go in with me?
Was planning to go in on Saturday, maybe around 7-8am. Would really like to do Hough also, but have never been there so, am looking for information on the heard path. This will be my second attempt at Dix from this route.
If you are interested, let me know or if you know about the connector from Dix to Hough, that be helpful.

The Route from Dix to Hough is very grabby, but is otherwise easy to follow, as you just follow the beckhorn ridge over to it. Provided it is a clear day you can generally see exactly where you are and where you need to go the whole time.

Haven't done it myself, though I hear the one-way trip to Hough from Dix via the Beckhorn is about a 45 min. trek...

are you starting from route 73 at round pond? if so, just make sure when you get to the part where you can see the two big slides in front of you, that you look for the trail where it goes back into the woods to the right.. last year we missed this because the broken trail went up the slides where people were skiing and we got lost.

the herd path to hough from dix is, for the most part, an obvious one. it's probably a little harder to follow in the winter but it won't be a problem if other people have broken trail. check out some other forums and see if people have been up there recently, they haven't gotten a lot of snow so i'd bet you won't have a problem figuring it out.
